EAM & Electra Commercial Vehicles Ltd. Partner to Power the Future of Aviation

Updated: 3 days ago

Engine & Accessory, Inc. (EAM), parent company of RampStar, is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Electra Commercial Vehicles Ltd., a UK-based leader in electric vehicle technology. Together, the two companies are setting out to revolutionize airport operations — starting with the development of the first-ever 10,000-gallon electric aircraft refueling truck built in the United States.

A New Era of Electric Ground Support

This partnership represents a major step forward for aviation sustainability. By combining RampStar’s expertise in chassis design and fueling systems with Electra’s advanced electric drivetrains and power management technology, the collaboration will deliver a new generation of zero-emission ground support vehicles built for the airports of tomorrow.

The project’s first prototype — the RampStar RF10 EV Chassis — is currently in development. Designed to operate quietly, efficiently, and without the use of fossil fuels, the RF10 EV will demonstrate how large-capacity, battery-electric fueling vehicles can perform at scale while reducing carbon emissions and operational costs for airports worldwide.

Shared Vision, Sustainable Mission

For more than 75 years, Engine & Accessory, Inc. has been at the forefront of designing and manufacturing specialized trucks for industries that keep America moving — from environmental services to aviation fueling. Partnering with Electra Commercial Vehicles Ltd. adds a new dimension to that legacy: innovation through electrification.

“This partnership is about more than innovation — it’s about responsibility,” said Robert Smith, Chairman of Engine & Accessory, Inc. “Together with Electra, we’re setting a new standard for how aviation fueling equipment can operate sustainably and efficiently, without compromising performance.”

Technology Meets Experience

Electra Commercial Vehicles Ltd. brings its proven e-mobility technology to the collaboration — integrating intelligent battery systems, drivetrains, and energy management tools that optimize range and performance for heavy-duty vehicles.

RampStar, known for its robust aircraft refuelers and reliable chassis design, contributes decades of experience in airfield safety, fueling logistics, and equipment integration — ensuring every vehicle meets the demanding standards of airport environments worldwide.

Together, these strengths lay the foundation for a new line of electric and hydrogen-powered ground support vehicles that will redefine how airports approach energy use and efficiency.

Driving the Industry Forward

As airports and airlines push toward net-zero goals, the demand for reliable electric alternatives is stronger than ever. The EAM x Electra partnership is built to meet that demand head-on — proving that performance, safety, and sustainability can exist in perfect balance.

The first electric fueling prototype is set to debut in 2026, with additional electric and hybrid models to follow.
